Lee E. Fowler

Joined the Army during the Vietnam War, delayed entry 1974 and officially inducted 2/1975. I actually blossomed in the military rising through the ranks from E-1 to E-6 and selected for E-7 board. Military careers were as follows: Combat Engineer, Cartographer and Terrain Analyst. Gave up the military and married life in Aug 85. After the military I work for a private engineering firm as a cartographic draftsman and subsequently got a call from a federal government manager at the U.S. Geological Survey in the Office of International Activities, I interviewed and was hired the same day 12/85. Career started as a GS-5 as a cartographic tech in the Antarctic photography research library in the Office of International Activities-Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research SCAR, I moved on to the National Aerial Photography Acquisition Program, NAPP and was the first African American to work in that program from its inception 87-2007. Moved on from that position to Digital Mapping and preparing Digital Line Graphs and creating datasets for the National Hydrological Data Program in the development of watershed database catalogs and eventually retired in 2006 as a professional Cartographer GS-11/8. Currently managing web services for my wife's family business in Atlanta, GA, and supporting my son's progressions in academia and sports. My son is a Junior National Honor Society member and a swimmer for the City of Atlanta Dolphins Swim team and is a Junior Olympian age group 13-14.

RA Clement and West Rowan High 73. Unfortunately, school was a unpleasant experience and my classmates could probably attest to that but I made it out and thrived thereafter.
