Welcome to the R A Clement High Classes Of 1943 - 1968 web site. We are located at 216 Krider Street in Cleveland,North Carolina.. ( mailing address R.A.Clement Association, P.O.Box 70 , Cleveland NC  27013)The R. A. Clement School has quite a unique history. This school started in 1880 as a one-room day school called Cleveland Colored School. In 1943 it was renamed R.A. Clement School after Mr. Rufus A. Clement who so kindly provided the land in 1878, financial aid, moral support, encouragement, and physical labor to make the school a reality. In 1968, fourteen years after the famous Brown vs. Board of Education court decision, R.A. Clement School was desegregated. Phone number 704-795-4411.

NEWS RELEASE

The R. A. Clement Association announces its 2025 R. A. Clement Awards of $500 each to, recipients of the George Knox and William Hall Scholarships.

R. A. Clement, George Knox and William Hall  Scholarship Recipients

 

 

Ce’Airee Watkins, daughter of Nakia Gordon and Clifford Watkins of Woodleaf, NC, graduated from West Rowan High School.  She will attend Howard University  and Methodist University and major in Radiologic Technology.

 

Nikari Warren, son of Natosha and Nicholas Warren, of Woodleaf, NC, received a George Knox Scholarship. He graduated from West Rowan and plans to attend UNC-Greensboro.

Kha’zyah Rankin, Greensboro, N.C.   

Graduated from Grimsley High School.  She  is the daughter of Shemitra Rankin, and plans to major in business at North Carolina Central University, Durham.

 

 

Xaniyah Price:   Salisbury High School, Daughter of Chanele Delima, will attend Johnson C. Smith University and major in Communication Arts

 

 

RAVEN DANELLE WALLACE, Langtree Academy,  Mooresville, N. C. is the daughter of  Reuben and Tinita Wallace. Raven will attend UNC Asheville and major in Communication Arts.

 

 

 

 

Naziah Davis, West Rowan, daughter of Nerissa Sanders, will attend Winston-Salem State University and major in Nursing.

 

 

 

JAYLA Clement, West Rowan, daughter of Jason Clement, will attend Winston-Salem State University and major in Nursing.

 

 

ISAIAH HATCHER, Anson County Early College, is the son of Natacha M. Deberry. He will receive a William Hall Scholarship award and attend Morris College in Sumter, S. C.  and major in Teacher Education.

 

Viendall Duncan, an Anson County Early College student, will receive a William Hall Scholarship Award. She will attend North Carolina Central University and Major in Nursing.

 

 

 

Marcus STURDIVANT, Anson County Early College, is the son of Marcus Sturdivant.  He will attend University of N. C. at Charlotte and major in computer engineering.

Making the News in the Rowan Chambers 2025 Membership Directory &Talent Attraction Guide.

 Drum Roll !!  Congratulations to Dr. Catrelia Steele Hunter class of 1963, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Kannapolis African American Museum and Cultural Center in 2024. She was selected as a woman who exemplified "Empowering Excellence: Honoring Trailblazing Women and Inspiring Future Generations."


 


R.A.Clement School , A Rosenwald school,was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2019.

Restoration Fund Raiser for Web Announcement: 

Families who attended R. A. Clement are being asked to raise $500 or more by December every year to assist with raising  the money needed to complete and maintain the restoration of the OLD BUILDING. Please make checks payable to R. A. Clement Association and send them on a regular basis (monthly or quarterly) to: P. O. Box 70, Cleveland, N. C. 

       The R. A. Clement Board meets the 4th Saturday of every month August - May at 9:00 AM.  The Annual Meetings are always held the first Saturday of July at 12:00 Noon.  All are welcome to attend.
